The VHS-C to Digital Transfer service from Precision Transfers converts compact VHS-C tapes into convenient MP4 digital files. This service helps preserve family celebrations, vacations, childhood recordings and other irreplaceable home movies before the physical tapes deteriorate.
Materials and Construction
VHS-C cassettes contain ½-inch polyester-based magnetic tape coated with oxide particles that store the video and audio signals. The tape is wound onto plastic reels inside a rigid moulded-plastic shell with internal guides and a protective tape cover.

A standard VHS-C cassette measures approximately:

VHS-C is smaller than full-size VHS but records using the same tape width. Compatible VHS-C playback equipment or a cassette adapter is required. The completed MP4 files work with most computers, smartphones, tablets and smart TVs.
How VHS-C to Digital Transfer Works
Each cassette is inspected, professionally played and captured using compatible equipment. The recorded video and audio are converted into an MP4 file that preserves the quality available from the original standard-definition recording. Optional HD upscaling may be available, but it cannot recreate detail that was not recorded on the tape.

How it Works
The process is easy, simply create your order, send in your media and we'll digitize your memories.
Place an Online Order
Place your order after selecting the media type and quantity, adding it to cart, and then creating an account.
Send in Your Media
The cost of shipping to Precision Transfers is not included in the rate and is handled by Canada Post or your local courier. The return shipment fee is available when placing your order if you wish to return tapes or films. Free return shipping is also available for orders over $150. The customer may choose to recycle the originals rather than return it upon completion.
View & Save Your Media
The transferred files are sent via a Google Drive link where you can download them. You can then save the file to your local drive or your USB drive. Due to the fact that this format is no longer supported by the industry, we do not support transfers to DVD. High-quality MP4 files are the standard transfer format, and we also store a backup locally for six months. Please let us know if you have a specific format request.
